Principal

Contractor

Far from your average building restoration specialist, we regularly take on the role of Principal Contractor, managing, monitoring and coordinating all work on site.

Controlling the construction phase of your project

Using our network of experienced and trusted sub-contractors, we’ve successfully completed numerous projects throughout the UK. Varying in size and complexity, many of these – in addition to our own specialist works – have involved the management of other specialist trades such as…

  • Scaffolding
  • Roofing
  • Leadwork
  • Joinery
  • Painting
  • Plastering and rendering
  • Dry rot works and more

In addition to handling the operational aspects of subcontractor management, in line with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, we also take full responsibility for all health and safety on site, ensuring the project remains compliant with current legislation and approved codes of practice.

Whilst by no means an exhaustive list, our key requirements as Principal Contractor include…

  • Planning, monitoring and managing the construction phase of your scheme
  • Preparing and implementing a detailed construction phase plan prior to any works taking place, ensuring all parties are thoroughly briefed
  • Ensuring suitable welfare facilities are provided throughout the project
  • Checking and monitoring the competencies of staff, providing comprehensive inductions to all involved
  • Maintaining adequate site security

I would personally recommend Burleigh Stone, particularly with regards to maintenance & repair works on listed or historical building stock. I have always found Charlie Cave to be helpful, knowledgeable and reliable.

A. Furey, University of Liverpool

Anthony Grimshaw Associates

I was extremely happy with work carried out on St. Margaret of Antioch. The gentlemen who came to do the work were polite and very helpful. They were punctual and explained exactly what and how they were going to complete the work. It was a pleasure to meet with them. To date we have had no further problems with the roof . We would definitely use your firm and staff in the future and be happy to recommend them to others.

Church Warden, St Margaret of Antioch

Excellent communication with onsite staff, who were helpful throughout the works and respectful to our Chapel. We are happy with the work carried out and the way it was organised.

D. Shallcross, Chowbent Chapel

After about 30 years (we think!) we’ve finally got the damaged sandstone corbels and lower mouldings around the domes replaced, making the roof railings safe again. Big shout out to the amazingly skilled masons from Burleigh Stone – Cheers!
